How Safe is it? – Different areas are safer than others, even in the most touristy cities. Check to see if your rental has barred windows or a Home Security System to make sure you’ll feel secure when you’re there AND when you’re not.
Where’s the Beach – Just because it’s “steps from the beach” doesn’t mean it’s a beach you want anything to do with. Check to see WHICH beach that’s referring to and how close the nearest pedestrian and surfing beach is to your houseyou’ll want to walk if possible.
Is there AC? – Many Americans assume everywhere tropical has central air and this isnot a good assumption. Many places in Costa Rica think AC unnecessary even if the temp reaches 85 degrees during the day so if you’re a slave to blasting air you’ll have to request it specifically when you travel.
